Braid diagrams and decomposition numbers, I & II.
Friday 8th March and 12th April, 12-1pm,
Carslaw 373.
I will show how some well known algebras, such as classical and affine
Hecke algebras, have bases consisting of braid diagrams. This makes
them amenable to cellular algebraic methods, and permits the
computation of some decomposition numbers for their "standard
modules" (as defined by Kazhdan-Lusztig and Ginzburg).
This is joint work with John Graham.
