Dr. Karina Arias Calluari

Your Photo I am an early career researcher in data science. I obtained my PhD approximately three years ago from the University of Sydney, where I worked with the Complex Systems Group. I have experience in developing models from scratch and delivering final validated outputs through agent-based, mathematical modelling (non-linear stochastic dynamics) and network analysis to capture specific processes.

My PhD studies initiated my enthusiasm for conducting research on critical transitions (tipping points) to detect early warning indicators of irreversible effects, such as market crashes. Later, I examined and modeled weight fluctuations in honey bee hives, for analyzing indicators to determine colony collapse disorders (CCD) features. More recently, in the public health sector, I have been developing metrics to understand how social connections facilitate the dissemination of physical activity (PA) initiatives and how these initiatives, in turn, promote social connections through social network analysis.
